Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy targets specific localities of the body that may have been stressed or injured that might in turn be causing pain in other areas of the body.
Trigger Point Therapy targets specific localities of the body that may have been stressed or injured that might in turn be causing pain in other areas of the body. For example, a knot in the neck could cause pain in the head, causing a headache, or even a migraine. The purpose of this type of therapy is to find and treat the trigger points that could be the root cause of pain felt elsewhere. The results allow for a releasing of constricted muscles, which in turn alleviate pain.
Your Well Into Life Massage Therapist will ask for your help with identifying trigger points. When pressed on, they can be painful. Or you might experience “referred pain” in other areas. Once found, your therapist will utilize techniques to alleviate the source of pain in the trigger point. And the results can come quick. Many people experience significant relief after just one session.
Trigger Points have been known to contribute to other issues, including:
- Back pain
- Headaches
- Neck pain
- Rotator cuff or shoulder pain
- Jaw pain
- Frozen shoulder
- Tennis elbow
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Hand and arm pain
- Repetitive strain injuries
- Pelvic pain
- Hip pain
- Buttock and leg pain
- Leg and knee pain
- Foot pain
- And others.

What to Expect
When you schedule a Therapeutic Massage at Well Into Life, your Massage Therapist may incorporate Trigger Point Therapy into your session. There’s no need to pay extra, or to schedule a specific service to get this treatment.
Many people experience relief with just one session. Others might need several sessions to feel significant results. And since your Therapist will be working on some pretty sensitive areas, you might feel some amount of soreness for a day or two after your session. But over time, you’ll find yourself returning to normal activities, and without the pain you had prior to your sessions. Your Therapist will work with you to identify some self-help steps you can take on your own. They’ll also let you know if you should limit overexertion and stress for a period of time.
